Emmy Oost produces films and crossmedia projects that combine innovative vision and social engagement. Johan Grimonprez’s award-winner Double Take (BERLINALE and SUNDANCE 2010); was released in 5 countries, broadcast by ARTE and Channel4 and exhibited in museums worldwide. Currently in production is the international co-production Problemski Hotel (fiction by Manu Riche), the crossmedia project KAKUMA (Lieven Corthouts), the doc series Barber Shop by Luc Vrydaghs & feature documentaries No man is an island (Tim De Keersmaecker) and Johan Grimonprez’s The Shadow World (producers Anandil Hussain & Joslyn Barnes). Oost teaches at LUCA, school of arts.

Born in Belgium, raised in a suburb of Brussels, he lived and played chess in Allepo, Syria and then lived in Ethiopia for 10 years, where he made:
* My Future (2009, 50’) received prize best debut at Miradasdoc an a special mention at film festival D’Abruzzen.
* Little Heaven (2011, 70’) was selected for the Good Pitch in 2012 and screened at IDFA (world premiere)
