The Pixel Lab 2013

The Pixel Lab: The Cross-Media Workshop

with the support of the MEDIA Programme of the European Union, Creative Wallonia, Wallimage CrossMedia, Creative Skillset Film Skills Fund as part of A Bigger Future 2, TorinoFilmLab

The Pixel Lab 2013 brought 32 participants from across film, TV, games, online, advertising, publishing and mobile together for an 6-day intensive development workshop in Genval, Belgium this June and July.

Through a combination of 1-2-1 meetings, group work, case study analysis and pitch training with media’s top practitioners, participants developed the skills to create, produce and distribute cross-media stories in order to maximise audience engagement and monetise effectively.

Between July and September, producers worked with Tishna Molla & Liz Rosenthal, to hone the creative and business strategies around their projects in preparation for a second workshop that took place in tandem with Power to the Pixel’s annual Cross-Media Forum in London.

Producers were taught pitch presentation skills, attended The Conference and The Pitch Pitch at The Cross-Media Forum, and finally presented their projects to a renowned international jury headed by Ray Maguire, Chairman of Interactive Opportunities and a selection of invited industry guests. We were delighted to award the £3,000 Pixel Lab Prize sponsored by Power to the Pixel to Hark Pictures’ Holly Elson for Viking of 6th Avenue

Stay tuned for announcements of application dates for The Pixel Lab 2014.

“The Pixel Lab really helped me realise how things are constantly changing. It will contribute directly to the re-shaping of our company’s activities and to the changes I’m going through as a creator. It opens a really interesting new network of people with a funky pioneer spirit!” – Laurent Nègre (CH), Participant & Winner of The Pixel Lab Prize 2012

“…It turned out to be one of the most stimulating and immersive weeks I’ve experienced professionally and has given me a whole new armoury of knowledge and ideas to apply in my work. The programme, put together with great care by the fantastic team at Power to the Pixel, illuminates every corner of the diverse world of transmedia and makes The Pixel Lab a one-of-a-kind opportunity to meet and collaborate with some of the most exciting creators and thinkers working in transmedia. Quite simply, there’s nothing out there quite like it.” – Mike Paterson (UK), Participant 2011
