We’re delighted to celebrate the myriad of innovative projects, talent and organisations coming from across Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland in a special Nordic Focus at this year’s Power to the Pixel: The Cross-Media Forum. Around 40 creators, producers, and Nordic state and private funders, have formed a special delegation to take part in this year’s event.
The Nordic region has been a world leader in innovation in technology and the creative industries, responsible for giving us platforms such as SoundCloud, Skype and Spotify, and leaders in the entertainment and games world such as Rovio, Mojang and Supercell.
Their support of cross-border, cross-media story innovation is exemplary. Examples such as the ground-breaking High 5 For Kids development scheme that supported pan-Nordic development of 14 innovative story projects for children to the SWIM Programme, an initiative between Southern Sweden and Denmark which has worked with 21 project teams developing a range of innovative story products.
Nine out of the 32 Pixel Market 2014 projects selected from around the world are from the Nordic region. We’re delighted to be showcasing eight of these projects in our Pixel Market Finance Forum in two special Nordic Focus panels. The ninth project, On Screen Off Record, has been selected to present on this day in competition for the prestigious Arte International Prize for The Pixel Market.
We’re also excited to showcase on our Conference day, three businesses from the Nordic region, representing the best in successful models for media innovation. Tero Kaukomaa from Iron Sky Universe and Lasse Mäkelä from pan-Nordic crowd-investment platform Invesdor will demonstrate the power of equity crowd investing and Mikko Pöllä, Group Creative Director of Rovio Entertainment will demonstrate how to grow entertainment brands from the ground up.
A huge thank you to the support of our Nordic partners who have made this Nordic Focus possible: Nordisk Film & TV Fond, SWIM, Danish Film Institute, Swedish Film Institute, Norwegian Film Institute, Finnish Film Foundation, Icelandic Film Centre.
Welcome Nordic Focus!
