Christy Dena is Director of Universe Creation 101, where she works for others as a cross-media narrative and game design consultant and educator, as well as developing her own properties and services. Her clients include agencies, corporations and production companies such as Wieden + Kennedy, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Australia Council for the Arts, dLux Media Arts, AlterAction and Pemberton Films. She gave a keynote at the First International Conference on Cross-Media Interaction Design in Sweden in 2007 and gave the Power to the Pixel keynote in 2008. She has been a speaker at various organisations, corporations and festivals, including the Nokia Finland, Australia Council for the Arts; Australian Interactive Media Association; Film Australia; Centre for Screen Business; Australian Film, Television and Radio School; Australian Broadcasting Corporation; ACT Filmmakers Network; Film and Television Institute; Screenworks; DIYDays; Destination Film Festival; Revelations Film Festival; Australasian Conference on Interactive Entertainment; International Game Developers’ Association (Brisbane); dLux Media Arts; and the Web Standards Group.
She has mentored film, television, new media and novel writing professionals on cross-media for the Australian Literature Board’s Story of the Future initiative; Screenworks; Laboratory of Advanced Media Production (a 5 day cross-media residential for the Australia Film, Television and Radio School); De Montfort University’s MA in Creative Writing and New Media and Booranga Writers Centre. Christy co-wrote the Writer’s Guide to Making a Digital Living for the Australian Literature Board and is currently finishing her PhD on transmedia fictions at the School of Letters, Arts and Media, University of Sydney.
