Xaquín G.V. is a Galician visual journalist, and Roi’s dad. He is also the editor of Guardian Visuals, a 40-person, cross-disciplinary desk of graphics, interactive, multimedia and picture editors at The Guardian, responsible for the paper’s interactive storytelling and data visualizations. He was the senior editor for Interactives at National Geographic, a graphics editor at The New York Times, and assistant art director at Newsweek. Ages ago, he headed the Interactive Graphics Desk at elmundo.es. He blogs—mostly rants—about ethics in visual storytelling, data and multimedia narratives over at xocas.com. He moonlights as chef.
