Caspar Sonnen is Head of New Media at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). In 2007 he created IDFA DocLab, one of the world’s first platforms for digital non-fiction storytelling and art – ranging from interactive documentary and virtual reality to multimedia journalism and physical installations. At IDFA, Sonnen also commissions new projects and collaborations between artists and creative technologists, He is also co-founder of the Open Air Film Festival Amsterdam and advisory board member of SXSW Film, the IFP New Media Centre and MIT Open DocLab. Recently, he received the EDN Award 2015 for Outstanding Contribution to European Documentary Culture.
