Power to the Pixel’s 2009 London Forum Set for 14–16 October
Power to the Pixel’s 2009 Cross-Media Film Forum is set to begin on the opening day of the Times BFI 53rd London Film Festival. The Conference, now in its third year, will take place on 14 October and will host an international assembly of independent filmmakers and industry experts, who will present the latest digital innovations and cross-media models. On 15 October, PTTP will put on a full programme of Workshops covering the entire cross-media production process – everything from financing to distribution. Held in small groups, these expert-led labs will offer participants a comprehensive and immersive seminar experience.
After the success of the 2008 Project Forum Launch, PTTP is proud to follow-up with this year’s newly-named Pixel Pitch. Throughout the day of 15 October, 10 leading teams will have the opportunity to pitch their cross-media film projects to a select group of financiers, commissioners, tech companies, online portals, media companies in front of an open audience. One project will be awarded a sponsored cash prize. The call for applications will be announced in the coming months, so stay tuned.
Continuing the tradition from last year, the Forum will conclude by inviting the speakers and other leading digital experts to participate in a Think Tank. This event, held on 16 October, will address the most important issues facing the independent film community, focusing on the need to develop sustainable business models. Although held privately, the Think Tank will be shared publicly through a summarised report on this website.
Don’t forget to save the dates as this year’s London Forum is sure to be the best yet. Even if you missed out on last year’s events, you can still have the virtual experience by browsing the video archive on YouTube or Blip.
