Financing 21st century stories: New Cross-Media Partners
Creating cross-media projects demands a whole new array of collaborators and finance partners from across the media industries. This session examines potential new international alliances and partnerships with online networks, broadcasters, soft funds, brands, agencies and the audience. Speakers will answer questions on financing native cross-media projects and cross-media extensions for film and TV properties.

’94 Elements’ launches on Indiegogo

Congratulations to Mike Paterson, a finalist at The Pixel Pitch competition at The Pixel Market 2010, who launched his multi-faceted project 94 Elements yesterday on Indiegogo!

An exploration of the human predicament through the 94 elements, the project includes short films from BAFTA-winner Marc Isaacs, Sundance-winner Nino Kirtadze as well as Mike’s own film set in India, Copper, Acid & Dust. As well as producing new films with established filmmakers – each based on one of the elements – the team will run at least two pitch competitions to find new and emerging filmmakers to contribute their own film to the project.

We’re delighted to announce this year’s Cross-Media Forum will take place in London from 16-19 October 2012. Held once again in association with the BFI London Film Festival, this is a not-to-be-missed event showcasing the latest innovations in storytelling and bringing together film, tech, mobile, interactive, games, advertising, TV.

Deadline extended for applications to The Pixel Lab 2012

You now have until this Friday 6 April to apply to this year’s Pixel Lab. A unique cross-media workshop encouraging innovations in business and inter-industry partnerships, the lab takes place just outside Berlin this July.

Open to experienced European media professionals, ARTE France is providing up to three bursaries for French participants to the tune of €1,250. Financial assistance is also available from Power to the Pixel. Find out all about it here.

2nd High Five Cross-Media Content for Kids Gets Go Ahead

Nordisk Film & TV Fond announced this week the second edition of High Five, Cross-Media Content for Kids. The project, in collaboration with Power to the Pixel, will run from November 2012 to March 2013.

The goal of this initiative is to develop six to eight strong Nordic cross-media projects with stories aimed at children that extend to other media platforms besides cinema, DVD and TV. Each project has the opportunity to secure NOK225.000 in development support.

The project teams will be mentored by international experts and the projects are presented in March 2013 in Malmö, Sweden, in connection with The BUFF Financing Forum. The projects must be aimed at children’s target groups: 3-6, 7-10 or 11-13.

Last years projects included Legends of Valhalla, produced by COAZ. the feature film was released in Iceland in 2011 and became the best-selling Icelandic film of the year. The Facebook game launched last November while the virtual online world is scheduled for delivery in November 2012. E-books and mobile Apps have also been produced.

If you’re a European media professional wanting to find out how to create, finance and distribute stories across multiple platforms then The Pixel Lab is for you!  Open to experienced creatives, executives and decision-makers working in film, TV, games, online/interactive, mobile, publishing or advertising, the residential lab takes place outside Berlin from 1-7 July 2012.

This unique course is designed to future-proof project development, company growth and increase competitiveness in the international multi-platform marketplace as well as foster new artistic and business collaborations.

ARTE France is providing three bursaries for French participants to the tune of €1,250 each. Further bursaries are available from Power to the Pixel.
